Meet Wisps: assistants that keep going after you close the tab
Wisps are SaaufAI's always-on assistants. Each one has a name, a face, a memory and its own email address, and it asks before it acts. Here's what they do and why we built them this way.
Most AI chats end when you close the tab. You ask, it answers, and whatever you were working on waits until you come back. Wisps are our attempt at something different: an assistant that keeps going on its own, with clear rules about what it may do without you.
What a Wisp is
A Wisp is an AI assistant you give a name, a colour and a face. Behind that face it has:
- A memory. It keeps what's worth keeping: your preferences, the people you mention, the projects you're on. Every memory is listed in the Wisp's settings, and you can delete any of them.
- A schedule. Ask it to "tell me what's on my plate every weekday at 9" and it sets up a task that runs on time, whether or not you're online.
- Its own email address. Each Wisp gets an address at wisp.saauf.xyz. Mail sent there goes to the Wisp, which can read it, sum it up and draft a reply.
- The web. It can search and read pages when you ask about anything current.
- Your apps. Connect apps from the App Marketplace, or your own MCP server, and choose which Wisp may use which app.
It asks before it acts
Reading, searching and remembering just happen. Anything that sends or changes something does not. When a Wisp wants to send an email or use an app action, it asks you one plain question, like "May I send 'Re: Thursday' to diana@studio.co?", with Yes and No. Nothing goes out until you answer. Once you do, the question disappears and the Wisp gets on with the job.
We think this is the right default for an assistant that works while you're away: it does the legwork, and you stay the one who decides.
As quiet or as busy as you like
Each Wisp has a proactivity level:
- Only when asked. It works when you message it, an email arrives or a task is due.
- Daily check-in. Once a day it looks over its inbox, tasks and apps and tells you what's worth a look.
- Every few hours. Every 6 hours it follows up on threads and spots deadlines.
- Always on. Every 2 hours. The most helpful, and it uses the most allowance.
When something needs you, it can send a notification to your devices. Notifications can be turned off for each Wisp.
The small things
You can react to a Wisp's messages, and it reacts back. Its face follows your pointer around the screen. These are small touches, but they make a Wisp feel like someone rather than a text box.
What it costs
Every account gets one Wisp and a free weekly allowance on our free model, enough for everyday use. Add credit and you can have up to five Wisps, a larger weekly allowance, and any paid model at its listed price.
What it keeps
To remember, a Wisp has to store things: its conversation with you, its memories, its tasks and its emails. That's different from the SaaufAI API, which never stores your prompts. You can reset or delete a Wisp at any time, and that removes what it kept. The details are in our Privacy Policy.
